Omaha residents can use the City's subsidized bulky-material program at River City Transfer for up to four eligible loads per calendar year. The resident must transport the material, cover the load with a tarp and unload it at the facility, while non-residents and commercial haulers do not receive the resident subsidy.
That route can work for furniture, drywall and limited accepted project material when a suitable vehicle and help are available. Junk removal is more practical for mattresses or furniture still inside, multi-room clearouts, people without transport or jobs where the lifting and unloading should be handled by a crew.

Use Omaha seasonal cleanups for eligible household bulk
Omaha's spring and fall cleanup events provide neighborhood drop-off opportunities for large residential items that do not fit ordinary curbside carts. Residents take and unload their own furniture, appliances, mattresses and other accepted material during the published dates and hours.
The events are not an all-purpose disposal route. Commercial waste is prohibited, tires can use separate events, household chemicals go to Under The Sink, and yard waste is accepted only at the designated yard-waste location when the cleanup rules provide one.

Plan Omaha yard and construction waste separately
Ordinary Omaha households can place yard waste in the black-lid waste cart, while separate composting collections operate during defined spring and fall windows. Extra paper bags and branch bundles follow the current sticker and preparation rules outside those windows.
A renovation that produces material over several days is often easier to manage with a dumpster than repeated self-haul trips. Declare concrete, soil, brick, roofing and other dense or restricted material before booking because acceptance and hauling limits differ from furniture or light household debris.

Keep Omaha chemicals and business waste on specialist routes
Under The Sink accepts qualifying household chemicals from Douglas and Sarpy County residents, including many paints, automotive fluids, cleaners and garden chemicals. It does not accept business-related waste, even from a home-based business, and Saturday drop-offs currently require an appointment.
Commercial premises therefore need their own compliant waste arrangements. Offices, restaurants, retail properties, contractors and managed sites should choose service around container space, collection access, recycling needs and the rate at which waste is produced rather than relying on resident subsidies or neighborhood cleanups.
