Bakersfield's published program covers single-family homes, duplexes, triplexes and four-plexes. It allows two accepted bulky items every three months by appointment at no additional charge.
Items must be ready at the front curb by 6 a.m. on the appointment day; there is no alley service. Confirm the items before moving them out, especially if access to the front of the property is difficult.
The City's list includes furniture, mattresses, major appliances and electronics. It accepts area rugs but excludes carpeting, along with cabinets, toilets, concrete and other construction debris.
Items over 300 pounds are also excluded. Describe heavy equipment or furniture accurately when requesting a separate assessment instead of assuming that every oversized object fits the bulky program.
For a garage or estate clearance, separate reusable contents, ordinary junk and project materials. Show the rooms and complete carrying route, including stairs, narrow doors and items that need dismantling.
For renovation debris, estimate tile, concrete and soil separately from light mixed waste. Photograph the truck approach and proposed standing area, and agree how loose material will be contained during loading and transport.
Kern County provides residential hazardous-waste disposal through its special-waste program. Check the destination, accepted products and transport limits before packing paints, pesticides or automotive products.
