Charlotte bulky waste includes furniture, mattresses, appliances and other large household items, but collection must be booked in advance online, through 311 or through the CLT+ app. Unscheduled items should not be treated as an ordinary extension of the weekly garbage service.

Prepare Charlotte yard waste as its own stream
Charlotte collects eligible yard waste weekly on the same day as garbage. Leaves, grass and small branches should be placed in paper bags or a personal container within the published weight limit, while limbs and brush piles must meet the City's length, diameter and spacing rules.
Dirt, rock, concrete, treated wood, lumber and stumps are not ordinary yard waste. Tree work, grading, landscape construction and large storm debris can therefore need a private container or collection even when smaller garden material would fit the City route.

Charlotte offers limited weekly garbage service to eligible small businesses, but those customers are not eligible for City yard-waste, recycling or bulky-item collection, so broader needs require a private commercial setup.
