Austin Resource Recovery offers on-demand collections to residential customers, including single-family homes through fourplexes. Customers can book up to three collections per service each calendar year. Select the items in the scheduling system and follow the appointment confirmation.
Bulk, brush and household hazardous waste have separate preparation rules. Small branches may belong in weekly composting instead of a large-brush appointment. Check the City's material lookup before adding boxes, bagged trash or renovation waste to a furniture pile.
Distinguish a household clearout from demolition
Austin's bulk list excludes tile, sheet glass and construction or remodeling debris. Describe material by what it is and how it was generated; household carpet and carpet from demolition are treated differently.
If you are emptying a room before a contractor starts, separate that clearance from the builder's waste. Agree who removes each load so usable furniture is not mixed with broken fixtures and sharp debris.
Ask for disposal records at the quotation stage
Austin's construction and demolition recycling ordinance covers building permits involving more than 5,000 square feet of new, added or remodeled floor area, plus commercial and multifamily demolition of all sizes.
For an affected project, ask how weight tickets or qualified processor summaries will be supplied. The general contractor's recycling report is due when the final inspection is requested; collecting the records as loads leave is easier than reconstructing them later.
Check the container position before fixing a date
Photograph the truck approach as well as the space for the dumpster. Include tree cover, gates and vehicles that will remain on site. If placement uses public space, check Austin's right-of-way requirements with the City and provider.
